• Anatomy of the Soul: Christian Conversations about Mental Health (taught by Scott Thornhill & Michael Durso) This class is a book study of Curt Thompson's Anatomy of the Soul. Curt Thompson is a Christian psychiatrist and therapist with special focus on biblically faithful integration of Christian faith and psychology. Through the book and our discussions we will introduce some basic concepts related to mental health, such as emotions, attachment, some basic neurobiology, as well as how to understand mental health issues from a Christian perspective (is mental illness a spiritual problem with psychological results or a psychological problem with spiritual results...or both?). Most importantly, we want to discuss whatever you would like to bring up, so come prepared to ask questions. Ultimately this class is designed to help you better understand what it means to be the image of God in embodied, relational existence and to navigate that existence in a broken world. This class will be led by Scott Thornhill and Michael Durso. Scott has 10 years of experience as a licensed counselor, and Michael is a counseling intern finishing a degree in counseling.
