God Given Gender
There is a tremendous amount of discussion about gender these days. Watch the news and you'll see it everywhere. Unfortunately, but not completely without merit, Christianity often gets the boot when it comes to gender issues. The accusations are that the Bible is outdated or irrelevant or pro-male or pick your negative connotation.
Some of that is fair, definitely. But some of it is bad history. To say that men rewrote the Bible so that they could be in charge is like saying the Cardinals rewrote the history of 2006 and instead of winning the world series, they wrote about ALMOST winning the NL Pennant. Men were already in power and women were treated like property in those days, why would men rewrite the Bible and advocate cherishing one's wife or submit to one another, or loving your wife as Christ loved the church?
So, we're going to take a look at what does it mean to live as we were created to live. What does it mean to reflect God's image - female and male. Over the next couple of weeks at Refuge we will explore our God given gender.
